Because of YOU

So here's the thing, We were never really friends, Our friendship was just a dead end, You were the one out of many who understands, But what surprised me was that we were always holding hands, Our relationship saw a future, It ended with hatred and denial, Don't tell me that we were just having fun and that we playing around, It was you who made the first move on this game board of fucked up chutes and ladders, The ups the downs never seemed to end. He loves me, he loves me not, All you wanted was for me to rot, Rot; verb, the process of decaying, The action that took place in my heart, Heart; noun, definition #2 the central or innermost of something, Something that held all of my emotions that drained my body but plagued my fake smile with "I'm fine", You hit me and said sorry but why did it happen more than once, We kissed we made up, you got me back on feet, then you knocked me to the ground, I have never loved anyone as much as I loved you, But you would always make me shut up and sit down, You helped me get out of this dark room with no way out, You were light at the end of the tunnel that I could never get to, You were filled with empty promises and blank hope, You casted out a life line but you reeled it back in before I could get to it, You never told me you loved me, You made me build a wall around myself, I praised you, I pushed everyone away because of you, I did everything for you, I hurt myself because of you, I was always there for you, You hurt me because I loved you, So here's the thing, I thought that we were more than just friends
