Because of you I am me.

I am who I am because you made me.

Because you made me doesn’t mean your my mother.

There were often sometimes you treated me as an other.

This would always put me in deep melancholy, as I was forced to live with my grandmother.

With a father behind bars and a mother on drugs,

I, Me, there I was a young girl forced to take care of her younger sisters and brothers.

I went to school each day, walked the halls thought no one felt my pain.

I said life couldn’t be like this always I am going to find my happiness and pray for better days.

I worked my entire high school career I said lord please make 2016 my year.

I left the house and never looked back , trying not to be who they are.

I promised I would never be like my mother or father .

I would always be the other.

As long as you know, the pain only came

Because I am who I am because you made me.
