Because you know the truth.

You know what happened

Oh, so long ago

When my dad would scream and yell

Throw things over our heads

Barely missing

Because you know what happened

When my mom tried to calm him down

When I had to hide in a closet

When the voices would just get louder

Because you know the truth

Of my troublesome childhood

You know why I cry at night when its dark

Why I get upset when I think your mad

Or when you raise your voice when you are excited

You understand

You don't judge

You just love me for who I am.

Thank you.
