Because You Love Me

Because you love me

you hit me

because you love me

you call me a cow

because you love me

I shouldn't go out with my friends

Is this really love?

I find myself asking

I can't see my friends

and every time I make a mistake

you yell at me for how stupid I am

I sit in my room and wonder

is this really love

I was told that

a healthy relationship

isn't like this

but this is all that I know

This isn't healthy

I am not some little bird

you can cage up

I am not a dog who

needs to obey your every order

I am a person

A person with feelings

a person with hair

a person who makes mistakes

and a person who cries

Don't tell me that you love me

because if you loved me

you wouldn't treat me like this
