Because You Love Me (Mother's Love)

You lift me up, holding me in your arms.  

"I love you" your eyes say to me.  

I thought you hated me, but I now know 

Your punishment was a blessing. 

Putting aside your comfort, you are by me 

Late at night when sick or sad.  

Your long days were spent on me,  

Though little gratitude did I in return.  

Never will I forget sitting next to you, 

Learning and laughing at your side. 

My knowledge of your love renewed 

When you let me leave your home.    

Stretching the distance from heart to heart,  

Your love for me felt deep inside. 

The future unknown, the distance so far, 

But your love is so great, I know 

No action, no place, or no person  

Shall change your love for me. 

Nor can words or action express  

The love I feel for you.
