Because You Loved Me
Because you loved me
I saw beauty in the mirror
I felt happiness in my heart
I felt love every night
Because you loved me
I believed you when you promised the world
I tried to please you
I stood by you when you left me in the dust
Because you loved me
I spilled tears on the bathroom floor
I felt my heart ache and burn
I learned what it means to have loved and lost
Because you loved me
I was introduced to betrayal
I found that bruises can form on the inside too
I was shattered into fragments of myself
Because I loved you
I miss your hands embracing mine
I feel a void left behind by you
I realized what I lost when the leaves changed
Because I loved you
I appreciate what it means to have loved and lost
I am a stronger woman than I was before
I know that love is not what you told me it was
Because I loved you
I can see the warning signs that I was blind to before
I will not let anybody else travel the path we traveled
I will not stay quiet any longer
