Because You Say You Love Me
"Because I love you" is what you told me
some months ago, before you would scold me,
call me a dunce for having broken trust
trust between us, trust that we thought was love.
But was it even love in the first place?
After all, it was your figure and face,
not your personality and the such.
There was never any trust, only lust.
Please, don't presume that it was all one-sided.
I don't have to assume that my iris
played a role in how you had decided
to appeal heavily to my pride then.
I tried to tell you why it is so wrong
why it prevents us from being strong.
I try to cut it because it cuts me,
but I can't, because you say love me.
