Because Your Future
Because your future
Is all you can to provide
Because your state now
Is worth less than currency
Because she called you ugly,
Even though she’s your mom, so what can you believe
Because he called you “dummy”
Since you have to study for the SATs
Because college is the mainstream flow
They tell you where you must go
Because who cares what you think
They’re in it for your money, your bling
And when you’re dead in less than a blink
They’ll be raking it up with the cha-ching
Because you have to be at the top
For them to see your value
Because you shouldn’t smoke hop, become a flop
But it didn’t matter; they were done with you
But no siree
I’d rather let you die than give up on me
But no siree
I’m going to make you see
But no siree
I’ll make you the best that you can be.
You will reach your dreams
Forget what they say
It doesn’t matter anyway
Make your mark, take a stand
Show ‘em where your passions land
Carpe diem, seize the day!
And if you’re destined to not live for long,
At least I’ll sing your swan song.
And I may not have a beautiful voice,
But the echoes will always remember
How you were never given the choice.
