I see all these theories about love

That say it's constant pain

I see all these theories about love

That say it's the only pure thing in this world

All these conflicting ideas converge and

I'm confused on what it actually means

But, there are some things that you just know.

I feel in my heart that maybe communication is the most important part

You tell me your hopes, dreams, desires

And I can share with you, mine

I think in my mind that maybe respect is the most important part

Through respect, we make boundaries

And refuse to cross them

In my gut, I know that support is the most important part

Being able to express youself knowing

That I am there to catch you when you fall

In my eyes, I see it's me making you happy

Your laugh, your smile, your tears of joy

Are the biggest way

To know that you love me

And when I take both of your hands

And look into your eyes, smiling back

You'll know

That I love you too
