#BecauseILoveYou
I fight in an army of blue-skinned soldiers,
Blue from the bruises of shame.
We walk through a valley of love's sweet torture,
Littered with the bodies of the slain.
Sirens whistle the songs of air raids loud.
Pit bulls howl in the sky.
My love’s a pilot barrelling down,
to drop another bomb from on high.
A curse word thesaurus explodes in spit,
His anger pepper sprays my face.
Can’t have a dogfight without a bitch,
The name for which mine was replaced
My battalion will stand behind me,
Friends, family and my future self,
We’re fighters, forgiveness our bullets,
There is strength in asking for help.
I’m words on a page, your internal voice
My pupils a black ink abyss
Love is strange, take it from a stranger,
Abuse was my first kiss.
His blond hair halo blinded me,
to the demons he held dear.
Because I love you, listen close,
There’s something you need to hear:
Love is shoelace hugs,
two bunny ears together;
It’s inside jokes and mock insults,
It’s “I’ll remember you forever.”
Love shouldn’t hurt like it’s hurt you
But know that there will be pain
The feeling of loss will hit you hard
But ___(your name)___ look how far you came.
I am part of your army,
You are not alone,
Superstar let me remind you,
Submission is no one’s home.
