Becky Bonnie Bailey Bute
Becky Bonnie Bailey Bute had a garden it was huge!
Full of flowers, never weeds,
Lots of vegetables started from seeds.
from sun up to sun down,
She took bare land and made it square.
One by one, she made her rows,
Each one marked with bows.
Carefully planted in the ground,
Her vegetables and flowers were rather sound.
From rosey tomatoes that were brilliantly round,
And vibrant tulips that could win a crown,
Green beans, peas, and onions that could make you cry,
Roses, daises, and sunflowers that had grown to the sky,
Big brown spuds that were fat,
With waves of petunias that made a colorful mat,
Butterfly bushes attracted all sorts,
Strawberry vines to make many quarts,
Bright orange and gold California poppy,
Makes the rabbits go hoppy, hoppy,
Long stem carrots that make the horses go wild,
Huge heads of cabbage in single file,
Green jalapeno and banana peppers,
Sweet and spicy like Mr. Hoeppner,
With such pride, her flowers would never be brown,
The vegetables were the tastiest in town.
The news of her graden spread far around,
People traveled to see the big sound.
Her sales were high in numbers nothing could make her frown,
until one day, competition came to put her down.
Their prices were low and their quality was great,
Becky Bonnie Bailey Bute wondered what to be her fate.
She shuttered with fear, could this be the end and their to blame?
Then it happened one hot summer day,
the competition's garden stand was carried away.
"Oh my! I didn't wish that to happen!"
"Now I feel like a bum!"
She was the only one left, and no one would buy,
Thought of her getting rid of her competition was high.
Take pride in your work have no shame,
But just remember, there is always a price for fame.
