Becoming a Hero

If we’re sharing inspirations,

I’d like to bring one under investigation.

I did not have a coach to mentor me,

And while I did have many teachers to bring me glee,

None of them were able to make me truly see.

Truthfully, comics are what

Brought me into the mix.

Reading the stories of heroes,

Flipping through pages as the time rose,

It showed me my path,

One that did involve me relishing in my wrath.

I learned to be a good person,

To not run,

To help others,

Brothers, Mothers,

Anyone.

Anywhere.

In any way.

Comics taught me responsibility,

Helped me learn my identity,

And build upon my abilities.

They started my urge to help,

And showed me that I could do more in life than just say welp.

I could do more,

I should do more,

I would do more.
That’s what I was shown,

And that’s how I have grown.
