Bed Time

Say those four last words

Quiet

Allow your breath to hit her neck

And allow her to feel your arms around her

Tightly

Are you going to say them?

Go on

“It’s time for bed”

These words fill her ears

Drowns out the rest of the world around her

Every evening she looks forward to hearing those words

She looks forward to spending time with the darkness

She has come to learn that her nightmares have become her friends

She lets them in

Welcome
They never come to hurt her

Bother her

They come to protect her

Guide her

The clock turns slowly

Tick tock tick tock tick tock

The moo shines bright

She prays before closing her eyes

Hoping she will wake up the next morning

She slowly starts closing her eyes

Slowly starts dazing into a dark dream

Goodnight and sleep tight angel…

Me
