The beginning is the end

The best is said to come after the worst
But I think the opposite
The beginning is the end
And that which existed meant nothing

One day you are told of your end
The next you return to dust in a long past haze
And with time, although there stands a monument
You will be forgotten

History is erased, and lives disappear
Something so bold amounts to nothing
And those who fought for something
Disappear the quickest

So if all is meant to vanish
What is life
What is life but death
Life is to live, to love, to strive for history

Even when all is past
Those with an impact leave history
Although not remembered by name
They maintain fame

In my ethereal state, I pass
Hoping I've left an impact
But if I were to be erased
None would remember that which is forgotten

The beginning is the end
