The Beginning of Peace

Stretching the limits of both body and mind Produces qualities of an admiral kind To be out in the sun To just go for a run To read and ponder the depths of one's mind The ability to know one's self In most situations Is a great desire Burns like a fire This comes about through exploration Of external environments and internalization Wading through waves and waves Of thoughts, problems, and feelings Sometimes floating, sometimes drowning Overwhelmed by the clarity that sporadic success brings When one doesn't know themself How can they hope to understand Others and their motives? Their expectations? Experiences? Reactions? This is the beginning of Peace and Love for All People

I wrote this while attending the Governor's Scholar Program at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. The program taught me that progress and productivity is hindered by ignorance of culture and personality more than anything else. Without understanding the other parties involved in any conflict, conversation and ultimate solutions are almost always futile.
