Behind the Filters

I yearn for approval and strive for perfection

Whiten my teeth and improve my complexion

The filters and edits are there for a reason

To mask every flaw and self-image lesion

But behind the seamless red lipped smirk

Is where my insecurities hide and lurk

I'm not the person you see in posed pictures

There's much more to me than flattering light fixtures

Shameless and happy, free from expectations

I don't focus on pictures, I focus on relations

I live in the moment and see all thats around me

Don't dwell on a picture, but focus on a memory

I am ready for adventure and bursting with life

Not worried about judgment or picture perfect strife

Deep down I refuse to need approval of anyone

I just want to be me when it's all said and done.
