Behind the Glass

Let them be the crystal blue eyes

Always full of life and energy

But rare gems that call out to sea

I would rather be brown eyes

holding secrets within the color of trees

Holding history like fossils of the past

To have the depths of the universe

Embedded in the oak color

To be able to captivate someone

I'd rather be warm and close

Than be cold and distant

If rather hold the depth of the universe in my eyes

Than the depth of the ocean
