Behind the Lens

Behind the lens is the truth

All of the impurities that make her perfect

Who is she to cover them,

Creating a facade

Brown eyes shining just a little brighter

Forehead a little clearer

Nose seeming to disappear

Because of the skin's new found radiance

Trying to create the ideal

Flaws that give her a name, an identity, an image

Covering that uniqueness

That she sees as defects

Behind the lens

Real, absolute, and pure

Lies the girl who tries to cover concrete beauty

Filters, adjustments, modifications

What do they stand for?

Shielding that girl's true beauty

Thinking they provide a favor

Masking an imperfection

Soon that girl will realize

Her beauty lies within

It shines past that scar or that mark

An electronic makeover she does not need

For their is no purpose

To hide an untold story
