Behind the Mask

Everyone asks,"How are you doing today?"

I always answer "I'm fine, I'm okay."

Thy stop and take a look at me,

A giggle, a smile that's all that you'll see.

I look happy but only I can verify,

deep down how I feel is more than meets the eye.

I feel sad,hopeless, worthless everyday,

these feelings consume, me no matter what the people close to me say.

I try to put on a happy mask,

but no it's not easy task.

I wish these feelings would go away,

sadly for now, they're here to stay.

My little sister is always happy and bright ,

when she got home from school she asks me if I'm alright.

I put on the mask and say, " I'm fine how are you?'

and she'll look at me funny as if I'm cuckoo.

She'll leave me alons for a little while,

until she figures out how to make me smile.

I thought the mask would be undefeatable,

but my sister proved it could be beatable.

Depression still get the best of me everyday,

But when sister is around she, gets me to put the mask away.

Okay I've spoken enough for today,

so who's next hurry or I'll be here talking all day.
