Behind The Mirrored Door

The crickets’ timbre echo my eulogy; The snowy owl's hoot sings my autumn ruin. Midnight cloaks my heart who howls—Eternity —Too soon! A single leaf shivering, holds tight But alas! the branch, it snaps. Together, they mirror my soul’s frostbite In winter’s dreaded lapse. The diagnosis, in half, it cleaved me. Made out of me a widow. Grieving through this elegy. My dreams are now these shadows cast; the doctor's words, they winnow. The door quivering—alike, I shudder at the exit. Stars hide and nestle in clouds’ caress. I stand before a universe in transit. A future obscured in shadowed dress. Droplets on the mirrored door Glisten as dawn’s dew. And I, Amidst the ozone odor, Keep one foot inside…. Maybe two.
