Behind The Selfie

Who am I behind the filter

What is behind that username

Hashtag blonde, Hashtag girl, Hashtag makeup, Hashtags stop

My followers know my digital name

But do they really know that girl in the still frame?

They don't really know me

I ask myself if they'd recognize her

On the street, on the subway on a bus or on a plane

Followers from all over the world who don't even know my last name

They see into my everyday life and I wonder

What am I to them

Am I just the girl who posts hundreds of selfies

To me I'm me and the photos are my life

But to them I'm the selfies, the filters, the hastags not the a girl not real life

I know the filters and the effects and userames can all change

But me, myself, my life will always stay the same

Just the stranger unrecognizable and covered by the filters

Unrecognizable to everyone but myself.
