Beholder

Beholder

The sparkling eyes of a newborn child

As they look up at you with a smile, warm and mild

The bright red petals of a freshly cut rose

With its perfume smell that tickles your nose

The early sunrise in the morning sky

While the birds sing, the clouds float by

When you look into the sea of faces

And know we’re united, despite our races

Seeing the fallen leaves cover the floor

You step on the delicate orange hued leaves as you walk to your door

As the sun shines down from high above

Inside you’re warm and fuzzy, the feeling of love

As you watch the dancers take their last bow

You sit so breathless; you can’t even say “Wow”

You stare at art hanging on the wall

And think, “Gee, he must’ve known it all”

You don’t understand now, but you will when you’re older

That “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”
