Being dragged back
Being dragged back
To being judged by the skin
And the clothing on my back
My only weapon is a smile
While silence is their defense
As I try to break down the
Walls know as my
skin
I never thought i’d be back
And now that I am
I’m readying myself
For an attack
I take every slight
As an ambush
Every whisper as a
Shout
I’m ready to rain down
The rage that I let cool
And push aside
Like they did to me
I’m ready to yell
When they stare
Expecting to catch
Their reflection
But instead
See me
I’m ready for my
Open hand to be met
With nothing but silence
And a stare wondering
How I got there
I’m ready for my
Words
To fall short
Pretending not to be heard
As I herd my troops
Ready to fire with
Smiles so that
Maybe
You can look
And see
Me
For me
And not
The war paint
That covers me from
Head to feet
