Being Fierce

Some people do not know what it's like to wake up every morning

and like the person looking back at them in the mirror.

It's not an easy feat.

It takes time and sight to see past your imperfections.

To not only look past but to also embrace.

To use what  life has handed you and defined you for years.

I wake up and see these "flaws" that society pre-determined.

Once upon a time, Marilyn Monroe had a mole on her face.

That was considered beautiful.

I have a mole on my face.

Today it is considered ugly.

But that is just society trying to determine my self worth.

I am worth more than my mole.

I am worth more than my split ends.

I am worth more than the entirety my physical features.

You may say that a mole on someone's face is ugly.

I saw that the mole on my face is fierce.
