Being Latina

You will never be

You will never strive

A Garcia Cannot

A Garcia Will not

The American Dream

Is not your Dream

You came to work

I look back and smirk

I came this far

I will be a Star

In the presence of my lord

I will leave no book unexplored

I will learn I will strive

I will use my internal drive

I will progress

Nevertheless

I am no damsel in distress

I am latina I am proud

My family is my motivation

To have an Education

My heritage is my inspiration

To show the nation

Not all bad comes from migration
