Being Me

I went through hard times in my life Though I came back stronger from those times Ready to fight again if needed I fight and love with a mask Afraid to be discovered For if someone gets too close to me and takes off my mask They will run from me, because I am not as pretty as I seem I find who I am in my relationships I never had many when I was little Come to find out I hurt more with a mask than with the real me I have looked for me, far too long All to be discovered that masks have rotted the real me away Believing too long I am other people To find me, I have to quit searching for who I think I am And start searching for my creator He made me, He should know who I was and used to be Until I saw the reflection that people gave to me
