Being Scared isn't being Alone

Walking through the quad

I no longer have a squad

This new place will be fun

They said days all full of sun

I don’t know yet if they are right

But I know if I keep trying, I’ll find the light

Don’t be scared everyone is new

If only it felt that were true

Scared to be wrong, scared I won’t fit in

Maybe someday soon I’ll find a group that feels like kin.

That someday finally came

Thank heaven I didn’t run from shame

They were right everyone else is new

All scared that we wouldn’t find a crew

All scared from time to time

But always finding a new rhyme
