Belated Birthday (Acrostic)

Procrastination tempts us all,
Regaling us with promised time,
Omitting, though, this troubled fact:
Clipped-out minutes would be thine.
Removing time from future selves,
Assaulting goals you've yet to make,
Stealing - let's not hide the word!
Time not yours you chose to take!
In moderation, it's a help,
Nabbing minutes you don't need.
Abundant, it's a detriment -
Those butterflies you failed to heed.
In words I do defend
One failure to a friend -
Now my poem's at its end.
