Believe My Lie (It's True)

Please don't call me twisted
For the lies that I now tell
The lies hold bitter truth within
They can help me break this spell

I know the rumors spread
Tell of ravings of the mind
But I'm here to tell you
It's nothing of that kind

My medicated rantings
Show a bitter, hurting girl
The doctors love the lie to tell
The truth to twist and twirl

I come before you now--
Pockets full of pills
The twisted truth I now speak--
Depression really kills

I know you thought you knew me
And history says it's so
But you didn't know my demons
Or how I sunk so low

I'll tell you now
It's in my past
My future reigns
The Nightmare last

It last until it got me here
Broken at your door
With scars and pills and boys so sweet
And sins that penetrate my core

So here's the truth in all this lie:
The truth is false-- the lie is real
Still truth is real and lie is false
Now you know what I can feel

The nursery rhymes have all gone wrong:
Rock a bye baby-- the baby's dead
"Down will come cradle.." you sung it yourself
Now you see where depression's led

I'm open now-- to attack
I will surrender all
Ask me any question
Dare me not to fall.
