Believe... please
Dear people of the world,
Anyone who’s dreams dance through the galaxy
Who believes in things unseen
Things that cannot be explained
Believe in magic and heroes
Demons and angels
Dark and light
And love at first sight
Those who remember the stories of childhood
And still have that twinkle in their eyes
The ones who challenge the world with a smile
All those who are hopeful for the future
Optimistic in situations that seem dire
I salute you
You are the minority in a world of destroyers
Cynics
Pessimists
Disbelievers
Adults
People who have long forgotten what it meant to be a child
To open their eyes to the world,
To imagine.
Doubters who have given up on magic,
Monsters and miracles
Going only by what the News tends to share
Of the destruction of hope
You see,
It is easier to distrust.
It is easy to deny;
Much easier than clinging to the hope that can be so fragile,
That can be broken by a gust of wind.
It is easier to not believe
When you believe the majority.
Hope is weaker
Hope is more delicate
Hope can be shattered like glass
Torn from the foundation of thoughts
And buried with a tombstone reading
“I tried”
But every person
We all start off the same
Children
Wonderers
We are curious
We take what is given but always ask for more
An explanation
An answer
A reason
We question existence
But soon fate whispers in our ear
The first thing to go is the questions
Declarative replace interrogative
Disinterest runs through our heart
Next is the sparkle
The twinkle in our eyes
The beauty in our sight
The imagination of what could be
Finally we lose our heart
Slowly turning into zombies
The dead who become indistinguishable
Humanity is the victim
Humanity is the culprit
Thus is the cycle of life
Yes,
There is strength in their numbers
But it is the believers that are strong
Every day we face the facts of the world
Holding the good with the bad
We don’t comply with the universe who claims
“That’s just the way it is”
We work
We imagine
We dream
We are strong
Stronger than any of their toughest warriors
We are the world
The hands that built the world,
Were the hands of a dreamer
The greats who challenged the odds,
Were believers
Everything that this world was
or is
Is the product of one who didn’t lose their spark
The world needs more of these
Pioneers
Excavators
Dreamers
So she doesn’t fall into oblivion
Without legacy
Without a story
So, my message to you,
People of the world,
Is that of a challenge
A challenge to hold on
When everyone tells you to let go
A challenge to keep moving
When everyone tells you to stop
A challenge to fight
When everyone else lies down
A challenge to be strong in the weakness
Humble in fame
Kind in hatred
And to never let go
To believe
Believe
Believe not only in yourself
But in others
Believe in kindness
Caring
Forgiveness
But most importantly
Believe in the world
And let her take care of you.
