if you want to be heard

stand up with no herb

your mind might not tell you everything.

but your heart can foreshore stand out and sing

your freedom may mean a lot

but racism still may not

and if you want to live free

make sure that you belong.

if you ever get knocked down

don't combine YOU with a clown

stay focused from the start

make sure that you stay smart

you may want something new

but the new wont be all part of you.

the new could be someone else

that might change YOU.

hateful words could yet be thrown

cause hate to all with your skin tone.

so if you believe that you could be strong

make sure that you belong

don't let fear make you fall

just do your best to stand tall.

people could take kindness for weakness

and could take you silence for speechless

they could consider your uniqueness strange.

and call your language slang.

they see your confidence as conceit

and see your mistakes as defeat.

don't let them take you for sanity.

while you still live for humanity. 

don't live about a song

live to belong.
