Belonging

Belonging.

Damn I wish I knew what that meant.

I know where I'm from,

But that does not mean that is my home.

I come from many different worlds.

One where there's carelessness.

One where they respect nature and live from it.

One where freedom is a fantasy.

My skin may or may not show those parts of me.

So then I'm left in the middle.

Between different walks of life, not knowing where to go.

Families on both sides.

So different, but connected through me.

I act a certain way with one and another way with the other.

In order to belong to one I have to:

Act a certain way.

                           Talk a certain way.

                                                        Style a certain way.

                           Walk a certain way.

                                                        Live a certain way.

Be a certain way.

I have to do these things in order to belong.

Try to be something I know I'm not.

I want to belong to something, but even if I change

I will not be content with my choices.

There are some people that are similar to me,

But people say:

You are not this or that enough.

I am never enough of one thing to be able to belong.

In my heart I know I belong with them when I can be myself.

I can be wild.

I can be weird.

I can be me.

Belonging to something is so essential.

I have accepted who I am,

And I have found my home.
