Below the Surface
The girl on the bus...
I see everything different
I see people's eyes
I see their deceitful smiles
and don't tell me you're okay cuz I've been on that road for miles.
Though I must say, you made a good effort,
but you didn't full me
no not even for a second.
The man in the suit...
I see people living, but what are they giving?
No, you're not living
so please don't tell me YOLO
because if you are the definition, then I'd rather go solo.
The boy in the black vans...
I see the boy with monsters in his eyes
he wants a way out but he is bound by his lies.
He walks in a way that is far beyond his age,
if only I had told him, this struggle is but a page.
The girl in a baggy T-shirt...
I see the girl who is afraid to speak
oh, but she has so much to say if you'd just be the one to seek.
She spews out her thoughts and is overcome with insecurities
Oh but I wish i could hand her a mic and let her go free with prolivity.
There is an entire world you are missing
you just have to look deeper
than the surface of the skin,
and the eyes of their keeper.
