Beneath The Smile
I'm siting, just watching
I'm sitting on a stool at a counter
I try to speak, only to fid the sound of my voice unfamiliar...
I am confused. I am scared.
I look around for help. I see a lot of people.
I can't see their faces. I just know that they are there.
I notice someone within the group
I know this person... It is me.
I decide to relax and "watch myself"
I want to see what "I" look like from another point of view other than my own.
I can tell that this boy is well liked
I notice that he keeps a smile on his face; he loves to laugh
This boy is friendly. Many want to be like him.
But he knows pain. This is something few people know
Only I know what he hides inside.
He is unsure of himself.
He holds few close to his heart, the result of betrayal.
He feels so alone.
Why have so many taken advantage of one that just wants to love and be loved?
One so innocent has turned bitter; shaped by the tormenting winds of cruelty.
I know this boy. He is me. I am him.
He appears to have the perfect life, he is therefore despised by many. Or so he thinks...
All he wants is for some to care, to truly care.
I am sitting, just watching.
He is smiling, but only I know he's hurting...
