Best and Worst
I am the best and worst kind of person.
I can see the beauty in everything around me,
but not myself. I can truly love someone
else, but myself is a different story. I am
not the kid from four years ago.
Others say I’ve changed, maybe they’re
right, as the wind blows, as the flowers
grow, as the world snows, as life goes,
I change. I curse people’s names,
I refuse to accept opinions that conflict with
my own. I go through addictions.
I am selfish and unappreciative.
But growing up isn’t bad. I am no
Pan. I cannot stay a kid forever.
I am appreciative and selfless.
I beat addictions. I enjoy opinions.
I praise others. I have changed.
I know I am not without fault.
I live with a dark shadow
hovering over me like a nimbus
feeding off me like a parasite.
My happiness and love is its weakness.
So who cares if I have changed?
I am the best and worst me
I could possibly be.
I hate me. I love me
I am changed
