Best Friend

Until you were by my side

I felt afraid of the world

Until you showed me it was all right

I felt terrified when I went to bed at night

Until you told me that you were going to be right besides me

I felt worried when I tried to trust you

Until you gave me the reason to

I felt insecure about myself

Until you showed me how to open up to the world

I felt weak when problems came to me

Until you showed me that you were going to help me fight them to get through

I felt angry at the world every time something wrong happened

Until you told me everything was going to be okay

I felt upset every time my mother and I fought

Until you told me to just call you and let it all out

I felt scared to show the world who I really was

Until you showed me to not care about what people said about me

I felt lost on this world

Until you showed up and gave me reason to live

I felt deceived every time people stepped on me

Until you showed me how to stand up for what I believed in

I felt unhappy every time people laughed at me

Until you stood up for me

I felt betrayed when people told my secrets

Until you showed them that it wasn't right

I felt like no one cared about me

Until you showed me that I had someone to live for

I felt anxious every time I needed someone to talk to about my problems

Until you sat down with me and told me that you were going to be here for me

I felt uneasy every time my family told me about another problem we were having

Until you told me that you would do anything to help me out

I felt mad at myself every time my parents disagreed

Until you told me that it wasn’t my fault they were arguing

I felt like the world was going to end

Until I met you and we became best friends
