Best Friend

To my best friend

Dear best friend I will always remember the times we had
I can’t remember a time I was with you where I wasn’t glad
Sometimes you would fuss, even get a little mad, but not a single moment we shared was bad
The love I have for you is far more than just a tad

We practically spent everyday together no matter the weather
During storms when I was scared you always made me feel better
You always snuck me ice cream and my mom always told me don’t let her

You’ve shaped me to be the young man I am today in many ways
Helping me with math homework and teaching me how to tie my shoes, those were the days
Goldfish, yup that was our favorite game to play
I would sleep over your house, before bed we would pray
You made me feel safe, and right beside you I would lay
The amount that I cared for you is something I always tried to convey
“I love you” we always made sure to say

There’s not a day that goes by I don’t think about you
Sometimes I ask myself what would you want me to do
I ask myself why did you have to leave, I have no clue
I appreciate you being in my life and it still feels all too soon
Your face shined brighter than the moon
Your energy was able to light up any room
You were able to sweep all my problems away just like a broom
You’ve made so many sacrifices just so I wouldn’t feel gloom
I was like a flower and you just wanted to see me bloom

The memories we have will always be with me as well as you
How did I ever get so lucky to have a friend like you
Words can’t describe how much I love and miss you
Dear best friend I love you, Grandma
