Best Friend to Guardian

Dad, a daughter’s first love

Even though mine is in the skies above

When you were mad at me it didn’t matter

Because you were my best friend with constant laughter

I miss our scary movie nights

Our smiles are similar yet bright

The early mornings of walking to school and back

I felt so motivated when you came to see me run track

I was only 16 when you were taken away

It’s not fair you won’t see me graduate

I don’t have your opinion on the colleges I should pick

Without you here makes my heart hurt and my stomach sick

I don’t like to say “You’re in a better place”

Because I am convinced your better place is here with me

I just wish you can be here throughout my life journeys
