best friend turned enemy

Do you think this is funny? Do find this amusing? Yesterday it was boiling oil, today it is knives Did I do something wrong to deserve your abusing? What made you want to take my darlings’ lives? You promised to love me forever and a day But this does not feel quite right to me You never once offered to throw a toy or play You have taken my eyes so I can no longer see. I cannot remember what kindness looks like Or the way love glimmers in one’s eyes I can only feel the tip of your sharp spike And the feasting of hungry flies. The heat from the sun has singed my hide You starve my spirit and my body alike But no matter what I remain by your side, Even if it means facing your deadly spike.
