The Best I Could Ever Wish For

Mom & Dad

You are the best parents a person could ever wish for. Sure, we have our ups and downs. But…in the end you are always there for me. You were there for me when I was puking my brains out as a child. You we’re there for me when I stepped on a red anthill and was crying about my millions of bites. You were there to pull the thorns out of my feet and to comfort me when people were mean to me.

In the end, you were always there for me.

Sometimes I screamed that I hated you. And, even worse, sometimes I thought I actually meant it. But…in the end you were always there for me. You were there through my anorexia. You were there to do what was best for me, even though I despised you for it. You were there when I felt all alone. You were there to strengthen my confidence and to make my life worthwhile.

In the end, you were always there for me.

I thought you didn’t care at times, like when I was applying for college and you didn’t help me. But…in the end you were always there for me. You were there to comfort my fears of finances. You were there to encourage me to do my best. You were there to push me forward when I didn’t think I could handle anymore.

In the end, you were always there for me.

Sometimes I feel like giving up on myself and on all of my dreams. But you still don’t tell me what to do, even though I know you want to. But…in the end you are always there for me. You are there to show your love and encouragement and support. You are there to make me laugh when my roommates are being jerks. You are there to open my view to the windows of opportunity. And you are there when I take the first leap through one of them.

In the end, you are always there for me.

You are the best parents I could ever wish for. Not because you give me everything I want, and thank goodness you don’t because I would probably be a brat if you did, but because you give me everything I need. You give me comfort. You give me confidence. You give me encouragement. You give me laughs and love. You give me the ability to take opportunity by the hand and go for my dreams.

You are the best parents I could ever wish for. Because…

In the end, you are always there for me!
