this is the best it's ever been

my new sun is rising

but I'm not even looking

at the sky

anymore, anymore

something is out there

shifting

something out there is

changing

I've got my

back against the wall

with my questions in my

front pocket

I'm prying open boxes

sifting through the sand

and I'm finding nothing

but I know something

has found me

I call out

but I

I'd never ask

I'd never wish for

a reply

regardless, I watch the clock

the small hand waves in my

direction

the dictator I can't overthrow

pulls me along a track

by a rope

and shadows play out

shapes upon the

ceiling

I know that something

something is watching

it's oh so close

oh so tangible

for once

and though I'm reaching

I simply am not feeling

anything

limb for limb for limb

I grow numb by the minute

it's running fast, I'm running faster

but I'm

two footsteps behind
