The Better Days
No matter what I’m doing or who I’m with, thoughts of you never escape.
You are in every boy I meet, every song I sing.
You are long gone but I swear you’re still in the passenger seat.
Singing me songs with unspoken truths,
dance me around my room,
whispering words that will never escape.
I didn’t believe in love, not until you.
But when you left, so did my faith.
Our song came through the speakers earlier today and I suddenly became very astray.
I pulled over and looked to my right, and suddenly you were in my sight.
The memories you left, and the expectations you set.
I can’t let anyone else in, you made it impossible.
Who knew someone so far could have a grip so tight.
And now all that remains are the memories.
A relationship founded on music and faith.
Dedicated songs and beautiful spots.
What I would do to relive those days.
What I would do to be in your embrace.
When we said goodbye, I knew I would never be the same.
