The Better One

Mon, 05/07/2018 - 00:31 -- Lynella

Everybody has heard

The moving to another country for a better future

It isn't easy is what they say

But they were still on their way

Huffing and puffing on their journey through

And in their minds they say ''all for you''

When they look at their children they see hope

Yet to their surprise some would be on dope

Out of all the U.S.

We were unfortunate enough to end in the east most dangerous

Most nights she would pray

My mother would say keep the danger away

Never home always working

My father would come home, hands and body overloading

Everday i remembered how stressed you would be

Just to feed your children knowing well you weren't blessed as we grew up to see

We may have our struggles but let's be honest we aren't the only ones

Over half of the world is having it way worse than us

I will make both of you proud i promise you that

I know that most of my siblings have not coverd your backs

Not because i was assigned to you i will give you my love

You have given up for me way more than just your freedom

I hope one day i will do the same but for now i just need to walk the stage

For now i do wish you understand i wouldn't know your struggle as a child trying to comprehend

I've heard your stories but its nothing i can relate

You two are the only ones i will take that journey for

Know that i am making a better future for myself to make up for the life you couldn't end up with

Make your huffing and puffing worth the weight

Having a great future here in the U.S.

My one goal is to create a life myself

Start that cycle so they can become the better one.
