A Better Understanding

Who misunderstand that we are all people?

The constitution says that ‘’ all men were created equal’’.

A nation of immigrants from various places,

The U.S. is a melting pot of different races.

There is a misunderstanding.

The opportunity to pursue life, liberty, and happiness is all we ask,

We mean no harm; opportunity is our task.

Immigrants live every day in fear of deportation,

We migrate to America for our children and future generations.

In our purpose, there is a misunderstanding.

Our children deserve a proper opportunity to learn,

The “American Dream’’ is an internal desire that burns.

Our contribution past and present have helped this country advance,

And all we have ever desired or hoped for is a chance.

In what we search for, there is a misunderstanding.

Imagine belonging to a race forever discriminated,

Look upon as evil, not belonging, and incriminated.

We keep on going and let nothing to stand in our way.

Making sure we do our best to support our loved ones each day.

Understand?
