Between the Lines for What They are
First exposed to us in silly books
We fall in love with colors.
But then we are forced to seek beyond their looks
Focus on the words, the author: its cover.
Rhyme scemes
what do they mean?
In this particular story.
How do they add or take away
or would the poem still hold if they were absent?
See, with poems, it's tricky
things can get sticky.
Balancing between
understanding what you read.
And making what we've read understandable
In school, we're asked to do both
But never told when to do which
So how can there be only one meaning?
But at the same time,
the author had something in mind
so who are we to interpret by the way that we're reading?
All the scemes and tones and moods in a poem
are organized to aid in the reader's digestion
So are we appreciating poems because the author was 'good'
or because it made a lasting impression?
Something wrong with this poem?
