Between the Madness and the Apathy
Between the madness
Flesh of my
Knuckles split and
Desquamating shards
Shatter upon the crusted
Floorboards
And the apathy
Droplets salty and bitter
Brew fermenting the
Soot and cinders
Beneath my callused splintered
Soles
Between the madness
Fright-mares stampede
My anxiety trampled
Yet rising, drug by the
Stirrups
Knocked unconscious
And the apathy
Dark shadows and
Memories blister my bark
Like birthmarks
Permanently branding my
Trauma intensely within the
Electric pulses that quake
My mind not
Seizures but inconsolable
Aftershocks
Between the madness and the apathy
Dim lit illegible maps
I set aflame with Sherlocks
Glass laser beams decimate the
Ants that congregate only in my
Hallucinations
I am mad as a hatter
Apathetic as a father.
