Beyond the Superficiality

I take a look around

and it seems that all I see are people who are bound;

bounded to a life where gun shots, blot clots, and little tots are heard

Screaming in the distance.

And we take this as the norm.

The aberration would be collaboration away from negativity

Because we fail to realize the beauty that lies within all our activity.

Just a simple hello can wipe the woes of a bad day,

the man behind the window shop smiles as a thank you comes his way;

The sunshine

Softly

Spills

On Someone’s garden reminding us of

the beauty held between the cracks of dirt.

Minds wrapped around sorrow, we forget to assert

Above

the torrent clouds

to see the blessings that are showered upon us everyday.

Feel the waves caress your skin as the tide tugs at the tips of your toes,

appreciate the smell of freshly baked bread as it bachatas to your nose.

Beyond the superficiality

lies the standing need to find the positivity.
