Beyond the Trash

They’re looked upon like they’re nothing but ash,

Like if they weren’t here the world wouldn’t care.

What would they see if they looked past the trash?

What would they see if they looked past the stare?

Have compassion, you who are fortunate.

Open your eyes and speak for those who can’t

It’s their fault they’re seen as unimportant?

They’re begging you, you’re their only demand.

Change your view, because they’re valuable too.

People are more than just commodities;

See them as equal: no more or less than you.

Let our lives be more than apologies.

Freedom lies where life once lost is now found

Where once lie damaged goods, hope now abounds.
