Big

Why is it that in order to be intelligent one must do something big?

In English one is deemed gifted if they use large, complex words

In math one is considered a genius if they solve big, complex equations

In science one is intelligent if and only if they make a large impact on the facts we know today

Why must everything be big?

If I was to write a poem

And say

“The flowers smelled wonderful”

Would that not be enough

Have I not made my point

Am I not understood

Clear, concise, comprehended by all.

Why must I take something so

Effortlessly simple and

Ruin it?

Why must I say

“The aroma of the magnoliophytas floated pleasantly into my nose, tickling my olfactory glands”

So many unnecessary words

So confusing

So stupid-oh wait

 Stupid isn’t descriptive enough.

How about

Absurd, superfluous, ridiculous, imprudent, thoughtless?

All mean the same thing.

But why is one the right choice

While the other is not.
