Big Blue Eyes

Upon her face she wears these big, blue eyes.

They rest above her rosy cheeks,

And raise in awe when she speaks.

Their luminescence lengthens for miles,

Even as she smiles and they squint a little.

Surrounded by dark mascara they peek through her dense, daring lashes,

Like sapphire spying through the jaw string entrance of a black, silk pouch.

During the morning they outshine the sun,

And when she rubs her eyes the day has begun.

The horizon unfolds as those big, blue eyes emerge above her mountainous features.

Glistening over her narrow nose her iris glows, to wake all the nation’s creatures,

And as the birds chirp, her eyes sing to me.

Calling out like a blue jay mid-song,

Right when it’s reached the chorus.

A euphony that unites all my fears into a musical masterpiece of assurance and ease.

To this melody her pupils dance along.

Mimicking the rhythm of their radiant gleam.

Bouncing within those big, blue eyes as they bloom like spring flowers, but even lilies couldn’t compete. Those eyes- as big and blue as could be- could sweeten the dead sea, as they sugar-coat me.

In my darkest moments, they appear to pioneer.

Devotedly delivering me to the light within her arms.

Those eyes, so big, so blue, make red seem dull.
